Kids Kayak Camp is a week long program designed to introduce young
paddlers to the unique and diverse world of one of America’s fastest growing
sports!
Our program gives kids the opportunity to be on the water, learn how to kayak,
develop confidence in a group setting, and most importantly
... HAVE FUN!!
Every camper's safety is of the utmost important to us!
All activities are planned according to the tides and weather conditions and
all of the "on-water" training is conducted in the protected waters behind Plum Island.
Our staff is CPR and 1st aid certified and in case of emergencies, they always carry
2-way radios, cell phones and medical kits. Our staff-to-camper ratio is such
to
ensure safety and control at all times.
During this week long program every camper will become familiar with:
- Various kayak equipment and components,
- Safety and touring gear,
- Various paddle strokes,
- Kayak safety,
- Wet exiting and rescue techniques,
- Tides, currents and hazards
- Chart reading,
- Trip planning,
- Kayak fishing,
… and more!
Most importantly, campers will have fun!!
